The Palatinate Institute for Hearing and Communication , based in Frankenthal (Palatinate), is an institution for hearing impaired and deaf people sponsored by the District Association of the Palatinate . It is one of the oldest institutions for hearing impaired and deaf people in Germany and was founded in 1825.

The largest and most important department of the Pfalzinstitut is the special school ( Augustin Violet School ) with an attached boarding school and subsequent special vocational school. The catchment area of ​​the school extends over the entire Palatinate, the special vocational school has a catchment area throughout Germany. The Augustin Violet School of the Pfalzinstitut is attended by 500 pupils, another 280 pupils are looked after by integration assistants from the Pfalzinstitut in the regular school. The boarding school has 150 places for foreign students.

In addition, the Pfalzinstitut also maintains an integrative kindergarten and a center for the care of children with a cochlear implant .
