The Palatinate area as a Bavarian province

The Pfalzreferent is the representative of the State of Bavaria for the formerly Bavarian Palatinate , the eighth administrative district , which came to the newly founded state of Rhineland-Palatinate after the Second World War .

In the background there were efforts to reintegrate the Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine into Bavaria. In 1949, the regional association of the Palatinate in Bavaria was founded in Munich.

In this context, a Palatinate wine tavern was founded in Munich, from the profits of which the Bayern-Palatinate Foundation was established in 1974, which supports talented and needy young Palatinate people who are doing their training in Bavaria.

In 1956 an attempt was made to initiate a referendum to regain the Palatinate , but only 7.8 percent of those eligible to vote entered the lists , but ten percent would have been necessary for a referendum .
