The term parish key or church regional object (KRO) comes from the Protestant church registration system and designates a church administrative unit as an identification number. An ecclesiastical administrative unit can e.g. For example, a church or may be a Parish inside a church.

Due to the different sizes of the regional church, not every regional church has every structural level. The terms also vary, so a church district is called a deanery elsewhere.
