history
The former Moosach rectory at the old St. Martins Church , Munich's oldest church, which was first mentioned in 815, was originally a parish and poor house . It was built in the late classicist style in 1879/80 .
In 1905 the former village of Moosach became an expositur and an independent parish with effect from April 11, 1909 , after having been a branch of the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Feldmoching for centuries . At the same time, the Moosach parish transferred the previous parish and poor house to the church foundation of the newly established parish of St. Martin Moosach. It now served as a rectory.
Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Pope Benedict XVI, lived in this parsonage . in August 1951, while he was working as an assistant priest in the parish of St. Martin Munich-Moosach. In his honor, a stele was erected in front of the building in 2006 and consecrated by Pastor Cambensy.
