The parish church Großstelzendorf stands on the church square in the east of the village Großstelzendorf in the market town of Göllersdorf in the Hollabrunn district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to the Apostle Andreas belongs to the Hollabrunn deanery in the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A parish was mentioned in the middle of the 14th century. In a document, a renovation / new building was started in 1735 which was completed in 1737. The church belongs to a group of Schönborn patronage churches which the architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt renovated.

architecture

The nave and the choir show a surrounding cornice. The nave has a frame structure on the facade. The central axis of the western front is flanked by Corinthian double pilasters on high plinths. The retracted Gothic choir with a five-eighth closure shows stepped buttresses and pointed arched windows.

The tower in the northern corner of the choir has five slightly tapering floors with slotted windows and the year 1520, the window grilles on the ground floor were built around 1736, the late Baroque sound floor with arched openings, facade structure and clock gable with an onion helmet is named 1737. The sacristy and oratory annex in the southern choir corner was built in 1735/1737.

The portals have late baroque fittings by Johann Adam Kühn around 1736.

Furnishing

The designs of the altars from 1736/1738 were attributed to Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt.

The organ from 1761 with a multi-part prospectus has a parapet positive. Franz Josef Scheichel mentions a bell in 1775. The sacristy bell was made in 1730/1740.
