Parish Church of the Assumption in Langegg

The Roman Catholic parish church Langegg is located in Langegg in the municipality of Schrems in Lower Austria . The parish church of the Assumption of Mary belongs to the deanery Gmünd in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building .

history

The Josephine church building with a hall and west tower was built in 1784 with the elevation to the parish from 1786 to 1790. Around 1900 was a renovation.

architecture

The three-axis nave and the drawn-in five-sided choir have arched windows. The square west tower with a bell helmet is inserted into the gable facade with pilasters. On the north side of the choir is a sacristy extension.

The interior of the church shows the nave and the choir with flat ceilings over a cornice on pilasters doubled in the middle of the hall. The corners of the hall are rounded. The retracted pressed triumphal arch has pilasters. Maria Sturm (1957) painted the ceiling painting of the Marian Salvation Program in the nave with a draft drawing in custody .

Furnishing

The high altar shows the image of the Assumption and bears the Baroque figures of Anna and Joachim on the side.

A gothic carved figure of Maria with child around 1480 was transferred here from the Dominican Church in Krems in 1786 .

The organ case is from the 2nd half of the 19th century. The organ was built by Franz Capek (1906).
