The parish church of St. Mark is a Catholic parish church in Linz district Gründberg . The parish church was built between 1979 and 1981 according to plans by Erich Scheichl and Franz Treml .

history

The parish of St. Markus goes back to a chaplaincy Gründberg established on November 1, 1941, which, however, was incorporated into the Linz-Christkönig cooperator branch on January 1, 1944. After occasional masses were held again from 1968, regular mass celebrations took place in Gründberg from 1970, which were held by a separate chaplain. After the parish council had created a room concept for its own church in 1969, a cooperator branch was created in 1973, which was converted into a parish exhibition in 1986. After the groundbreaking on November 16, 1979, the foundation stone was laid on June 22, 1980. The consecration of the church could be celebrated on November 29, 1981.

Building

The complex of the parish of St. Markus consists of the parish church, a parish hall and a rectory, which are grouped around a circular, closed square. The facility is located on the exit road to Bad Leonfelden .

Exterior

The parish church of St. Markus is a building with white rough plaster walls and a flat roof over a modified square floor plan. The area above the altar was provided with a hexagonal structure over which a copper-clad, tower-like lamp protrudes. The lamp is provided with light strips and crowned with a cross. The entrance facade of the church was adapted to the circular shape of the forecourt, the opposite end wall of the altar area was beveled. The outer walls are only broken up by a circular, subdivided window on the north-east and north-west wall, with the green-painted window subdivisions and frames and the two-winged portals setting the only color accents on the outer facade. To the west and south of the church there is an extension in which the working day chapel, a sacristy and the discussion room are housed.

Interior and outfit

The main room of the parish church was aligned diagonally by the architects, whereby they raised the chancel by one step. Aside from the structure above, the lower area of the room is supported by three round pillars with capitals. The roof construction made of laminated timber stands in contrast to the white walls with its dark wood finish. While the chancel is laid out with stone, there is a gray fitted carpet in the rest of the interior. The furnishing and furnishing of the parish church was shaped by Erich Wulz, who had scenic representations carried out in different material combinations and image carriers.
