Horse market (Saarburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The horse market is a street in Saarburg . It connects the street “Auf dem Graben” with Graf-Siegfried-Straße.

The street runs on the western side of the city ring below the Leukbach near the butter market . In the Middle Ages he was only connected to it by a ford. Since then, however, there has been a bridge to Graf-Siegfried-Strasse. The horse market is one of the typical squares and street scenes in the medieval city of Saarburg. After the destruction during the bombing in December 1944, the southern wall of the square with the aligned streets was completely reorganized. Although the square is characteristic of the Saarburg townscape, it has only a few individual monuments.
