Please note the note on the applicable legal version.

The Law on Care Leave ( Care Leave Act ) came into force on July 1, 2008 as Article 3 of the Care Development Act. The maintenance time is to allow employees to work for a limited period of time without continued remuneration from work release to let or part-time work to long-term care members thereby supervise and provide, without the employment relationship would be jeopardized. During the care period there is special protection against dismissal for those affected . The Care Leave Act distinguishes between short-term absence from work for care and care leave. The short-term leave of absence can be used for a maximum of ten days to provide help in an acute care situation. Here the social security protection remains. The full or partial leave within the framework of the care leave requires, in addition to some other legal requirements, proof of the need for care of the relative. Unpaid leave or part-time work can take place for a maximum of six months and is only granted in companies with more than 15 employees. The Nursing Leave Act does not apply to civil servants; there are separate statutory regulations for them.
