A phagodynamometer (from Greek phago ' to eat' and dynamis 'strength') is a device that measures the resistance of different foods when chewing.

nature

The instrument is an invention of Greene Vardiman Black and was first shown in 1895. It consists of two opposing occlusal surfaces and simulates the upper and lower muscles of the masticatory muscles .
