" Phase 2 - Magazine against Reality" is a quarterly theory and discussion magazine of the radical left . The magazine is sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
History and classification
The project came into being after the Antifascist Action / Nationwide Organization (AABO) disbanded at the 2001 Antifa Congress in Göttingen and was initially intended to provide a platform for a new organizational debate for the (post) autonomous Antifa movement. The magazine was published for the first time in July 2001. In the meantime, however, its content has turned to more theoretical reflections on anti-fascist and communist politics from a mostly anti-German perspective. The Phase 2 was the Protection of the Constitution considered the state of Lower Saxony (2008) as a publication of the "autonomous and other violent left-wing extremists". According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Brandenburg (2005), phase 2 was "one of the most important 'anti-German' publications."
Editing and content
The Phase 2 is made of two editorial groups from Leipzig and Berlin. The majority of the contributions, however, make up external contributions from various left-wing authors and groups. Phase 2 appears quarterly. Since issue 16, a literature supplement “Kilby” has been published every six months with reviews of current new publications on topics which phase 2 also addresses in terms of content.
The magazine is divided into a main topic "[top story]" and into different sections.
The categories include:
- "[Enemy country]": anti-racism
- "[System error]": criticism of capitalism
- "[Gender]": feminism
- "[Global action]": internationalism
- "[No style]": culture
- "[20th century rocks]": history
- "[In motion]": Current messages
- "[Echo]": reactions
- "[Antifa]": antifascism
