The Evangelical Lutheran Philemon Church in the Hamburg district of Hummelsbüttel is located at Poppenbütteler Weg 97 at the corner of Tegelsbarg, next to the Tegelsbarg sports field. It is named after Philemon , host of an early Christian house church in Kolossai , to whom the apostle Paul sent a short letter contained in the New Testament .

This church is the youngest of three church buildings in the Poppenbüttel parish. On September 20, 1968, the foundation stone for a community center designed by the architect Friedhelm Grundmann was laid on the damp meadow property . Provost Willi Schwennen consecrated the “Ev. Lutheran Philemon Community Center Poppenbüttel West ”.

In 1978 the community center became a preaching site with Sunday services. In the following year it was rebuilt, and on September 28, 1980, Bishop Hans-Otto Wölber consecrated the church belonging to the community center. Since 1991 it has been officially called "Philemon Church". The small bell tower, which houses a donated ship's bell, was completed in 1994, and in the same year the church hall received a glass window by Holm Lilie.
