The Puces de Montsoreau in Montsoreau ( French Marché aux puces de Montsoreau ) is the largest flea market in the Loire Valley and takes place all year round on the second Sunday of the month. Montsoreau is a small town, after Berg Soreau was named on which the famous Château de Montsoreau is the only of the Loire Valley , the river bed of the Loire was built. Montsoreau is one of the most beautiful villages in France . Both the village and the castle are part of the Loire Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site . The Montsoreau flea market has a hundred professional merchants all year round and is located in the Vieux Port district on the banks of the Loire.

Montsoreau is part of the Loire Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also listed among the most beautiful villages in France. The Montsoreau flea market was created in April 1990 by the municipality of Montsoreau to promote the trade and tourism of this small town and to take full advantage of the urban landscape. The town of Montsoreau relied on a local network of antique dealers to determine the periodicity (once a month, on the second Sunday) and identity of the event. The market organization is still based on the antique dealers and is chosen from the village. One of their characteristics is to invite the used and antique dealers in the morning at 5:30 am and to pull the available spaces at the Vieux Port docks.

France Europe Antiques Quality Mark

The flea market in Montsoreau was awarded the France-Europe Antiques quality mark in 2006 and is one of the 52 marked events in Europe . This quality mark is issued by the SNCAO-GA (National Association of Ancient, Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries ) and deposited with the INPI (National Institute for Intellectual Property) and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in Geneva .

The event benefited from its image of the authenticity of the goods, its immediate surroundings of the Loire Valley landscape and the fame of its castle, in order to immediately ensure the presence of 4000 visitors per event from the 1990s. In 2011 the number of visitors stabilized between 6,000 and 10,000 visitors per event. Today regularly exceed 10,000 visitors.

During the flea market in Montsoreau, 20 artists and artisans gathered to offer their services. These professionals can restore items sold by antique dealers, but also offer their creations or custom projects. They concern all areas of handicrafts and specialize in restoration, interior design or decoration.
