Philemon the Elder
Philemon the Elder or Philemon of Syracuse * 361 BC Chr. In Syracuse ; † 263 BC Chr. In Athens was an ancient Greek playwright of the New Comedy and father Philemon the Younger . He wrote plays in Athens and, alongside Menander, was one of the most famous representatives of the New Comedy. He allegedly laughed himself to death at the age of 97 at a cheeky donkey. 57 titles and fragments of his 97 works are known.
