The Duisburg Philharmonic Choir (formerly also known as the Duisburg Choir , Municipal Choral Society and Municipal Concert Choir ) is a classical concert choir from Duisburg . With 120 singers, it is one of the largest philharmonic choirs in the Ruhr area . He appears regularly in philharmonic concerts of the Duisburg Philharmonic and also organizes his own concerts.
Since 2003 the choir has been led by Salvatorkantor Marcus Strümpe.
history
In 1830, the first mixed choir was founded in Duisburg by Carl Theodor Kufferath, who dissolved again in 1847.
On December 7th, 1852 a new mixed choir was founded as the Duisburg choral society under the direction of Albrecht zur Nieden, a pastor's son and music teacher from Emmerich.
