Philip Berg

Philip Berg (* 1929 in Brooklyn , New York ; † September 16, 2013 in Los Angeles ), whose real name was Feivel Gruberger , was the founder and director of the Kabbalah Center .

Gruberger / Berg initially worked as an insurance agent and rabbi in New York. In the early 1960s he studied with Yehuda Brandwein in Israel , after whom he later named his son, Yehuda Berg . After his death in 1969 he changed his name to Philip Berg . A few years later, he left his first wife and seven children to found the first Kabbalah Center in Tel Aviv with his second wife, Karen Berg . He later moved with his family to California , where he was successful with the Kabbalah Center in Los Angeles from the 1990s. Berg died in a Los Angeles hospital on September 16, 2013.
