Phintas (android dress)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Phintas ( ancient Greek Φίντας , † 682 BC) was, according to Pausanias, a descendant of the Messenian king Androkles from the Aipytides , who lived in 746 BC. Was murdered by his brother's followers.

Phintas fell together with Androkles in the Battle of the Great Trench in the Second Messenian War , which, according to Pausanias, took place in 682 BC. Took place and in which the Messenians of Sparta were subjugated.

The historicity of the literarily embellished events is critically assessed in research and the dates given in Pausanias are considered incorrect and should be set around 40 years later.
