Phoca Gallery is an open source project of a web gallery that runs in the content management system (CMS) Joomla . Phoca Gallery is programmed in PHP and runs on web servers with activated PHP support and installed Joomla. The project comprises the basic component as well as numerous modules and plug-ins that enable users to display images or, for example, YouTube videos in many different views.

Phoca Gallery enables both the display of images on the server and the display of images from Picasa or Facebook applications.

Only the basic component is required for displaying images on a website using Phoca Gallery. Images can also be displayed directly in Joomla articles using a plug-in. Another module shows pictures of the Phoca Gallery in the module positions of Joomla.

Phoca Gallery is a standard Joomla! Application and can be expanded with plug-ins and modules. Many different modules and plug-ins for Phoca Gallery are listed in the Joomla Extensions Directory.
