With Phosphoglycerinsäuren (short: PGS), two chemical compounds, 2-phosphoglycerate (including glycerin acid 2-phosphate) and 3-phosphoglycerate (including glycerin acid-3-phosphate), respectively. These are derived from glyceric acid (2,3-dihydroxypropanoic) from by either the C 2 - hydroxy group or the C 3 -hydroxy group with phosphoric acid esterified are. The anions of phosphoglyceric acids are known as phosphoglycerates . In biochemistry, glycerates are used almost exclusively, as the carboxy group is dissociated under physiological conditions. As they contain three carbon atoms, the phosphoglyceric acids are called C3 bodies.
