Photodinesis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In botany, the term photodinesis or traumatodinesis denotes the generation or acceleration of a plasma flow in a cell using light . This can take the form of a rotation (e.g. Elodea canadensis, Canadian waterweed), circulation ( stinging hair of the Urtica dioica, nettle ) or sliding movement (Allium cepa, kitchen onion ).

In most of the plants examined for this purpose, the phytochrome system is responsible for photodinesis.
