Phraates V.
Phraates V , called Phraatakes ("the little Phraates") was a Parthian king who lived from 2 BC. Ruled until about AD 4. He was the son of Phraates IV and Musa . Musa had in the year 2 BC Had her husband Phraates IV poisoned and thereupon put her son on the throne. In the year 1 BC The Parthians and the Armenians drove out a Roman candidate for the throne of Armenia. Emperor Augustus then sent his grandson Gaius Caesar with an army to Armenia to put things right. But Phraates and Gaius made peace at a banquet on the Euphrates .
In the year 2 AD Phraates married his mother Musa, which gave ample cause for polemics among the Romans. They both appear together on coins. In AD 4, Phraates and Musa disappear from the political scene. Nothing is known about their further fate.
