Phraates I.

Phraates I was a Parthian king who lived from about 170 BC. BC to 165 BC Ruled. He was the eldest son of Phriapatios . Phraates I began with attacks on the Seleucid Empire . Antiochus IV had just suffered some defeat and was too weak to offer adequate resistance in the distant provinces of Iran. Phraates I recaptured Hyrcania and extended his rule to the Caspian Sea . In the following years Antiochus III died, whereby Phraates I conquered further Seleucid provinces in Iran.
