Pia Müller-Tamm
Pia Müller-Tamm (born May 19, 1957 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German art historian and director of the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe .
Life
Müller-Tamm studied art history, education, folklore and urban planning at the universities of Würzburg and Bonn . In 1989 she became Rumohr's “Household of Art” with her dissertation . Doctorate on an art theoretical work from Goethe's time . After gaining practical experience, she went to the Kunsthalle Mannheim in 1989 with a work contract from the Getty Foundation . From 1991 to 1995 she worked there as curator of the graphic collection and the Kupferstichkabinett. In 1995 she moved to a research position in the art collection of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf. From 2001 to 2007 she was Scientific Director of the K20 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, and from January 2008 to March 2009 she was interim director of the K20 K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen . Since May 2009 she has been director of the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe. One focus of her work is the conception and realization of exhibitions, symposia and publications in cooperation with university institutions.
Pia Müller-Tamm is a member of numerous juries, selection commissions, scientific advisory boards and other bodies, including from 1999 to 2009 at the DAAD (selection committee for fine arts) in Bonn, from 2006 to 2018 at the Klassik Stiftung Weimar (2008-2014 deputy chairwoman) of the Scientific Advisory Board and member of the Board of Trustees), since 2011 with the Kulturstiftung der Länder (Exhibition Committee and Board of Trustees) in Berlin, from 2012 to 2019 at the German Forum for Art History (Scientific Advisory Board) in Paris, since 2012 in the Art and Exhibition Committee of the Foreign Office in Berlin as well as in the German National Committee of the International Art History Congress CIHA, since 2013 in the general advisory board and in the museum advisory board of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in Berlin, since 2015 she has been an appraiser of the Volkswagen Foundation, Hanover ("Opus magnum"), since 2016 on the board of trustees of Ernst von Siemens Art Foundation and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kunststiftung NRW since 2016.
Pia Müller-Tamm has two sisters, the former Mayor of Ludwigshafen Eva Lohse and the literary scholar Jutta Müller-Tamm, who teaches at the Berlin Free University .
