Piano meets Vibes is an acoustic duo with the instrumentation piano , vibraphone and marimba .

history

The duo was founded in 1989 by the pianist Jens Schliecker and the drummer Nils Rohwer . Musically, the artists move in an independent narrative sound language between jazz , classical , folk and minimal music .

In 1991 and 1994 the duo received the first prize of the "Jazz Podium Schleswig-Holstein". In 2007 Piano meets Vibes was awarded 1st prize in the composition competition of the Classical Marimba League (USA). In 2009 Piano meets Vibes received the North German Culture Prize for the entire work.

Piano meets Vibes gave concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and performed at the JazzBaltica festivals , the Hamburg Jazzfest, and the Aarhus International Jazzfestival . Since 1999 Piano meets Vibes has been a guest with self-composed music for the movies Metropolis, Mikrokosmos, Menschen am Sonntag, Pest in Florence, Balance live as part of tours in German cinemas and at film festivals, etc. a. the Berlinale . Jens Schliecker and Nils Rohwer have also appeared as composers of film music for cinema and TV since 1999. The compositions of Piano meets Vibes are used internationally as sheet music.
