Piatt's Landing was a ship and ferry pier on the Ohio River in the early 19th century . The city of Union , Boone County (Kentucky) , USA has developed here since then . The pier was near Route 338 west of downtown Union. The pier and Winnfield House, which no longer exists, were built by Robert Piatt, grandfather of Civil War General Edward Richard Sprigg Canby .
