Pickwick (tea)

Pickwick tea

Pickwick is a tea brand of the Dutch coffee and tea producer Jacobs Douwe Egberts (formerly DE Master Blenders 1753).

Until 1937, Douwe Egberts sold teas under its own company name. During this time, however, English tea brands were in vogue. That is why the director at the time, Johannes Hessel, whose wife was inspired by Charles Dickens ' novel Die Pickwickier , developed the English-sounding name "Pickwick".

The Pickwick brand is the market leader in the Netherlands and Belgium , but is only sold to a limited extent in Germany. For example, tea pads for the Senseo coffee pad system , which was developed in 2001 by Douwe Egberts in cooperation with the electronics manufacturer Philips , are known.

Pickwick is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership through DE Master Blenders 1753.
