Pierre Gendron (chemist)

Pierre Raoul Gendron (born May 1, 1916 in Saint-Hyacinthe , † February 16, 1984 ) was a Canadian chemist .

Live and act

Gendron was the first dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at the University of Ottawa from 1953 to 1962 .

As president of the board of directors of Dow Breweries , he convinced the brewers to fund a planetarium in Montreal ; thus the Dow Planetarium was created under his aegis .

Awards

In 1970 he received the title of Companion of the Order of Canada "for his scientific and administrative contribution to the advancement of industry and his service to society" .
