Pierre Radványi

Pierre Radványi (born April 29, 1926 in Berlin ; born Peter Radványi ) is a French physicist of German-Hungarian descent. His mother is the German writer Anna Seghers and his father is the German sociologist and economist Johann Lorenz Schmidt (née László Radványi).

Life

He and his Jewish family had to emigrate to France in 1933 and to Mexico in 1941 . After the war ended, they returned to France and Pierre Radványi began studying physics in Paris . From 1948 he worked at the Collège de France with Frédéric Joliot-Curie . In 1954 he received his doctorate and then worked at the Center national de la recherche scientifique . In the following years he published numerous papers on nuclear physics.

In 2005 his first literary work “Jenseits des Stroms. Memories of my mother ”. Pierre Radványi is Deputy Chairman of the Anna Seghers Foundation, which awards the Anna Seghers Prize every year .
