Picosecond laser

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Picosecond lasers are special lasers that generate ultra- short light pulses in the picosecond range (pulse duration between 10 −9 and 10 −12 s). The lasers are used both in the processing of materials and in cosmetic medicine. When removing tattoos , the short pulse duration of the lasers means that the color particles - compared to nanosecond lasers - are shredded more and thus broken down more quickly by the body. The laser also applies less heat to the skin during treatment, which minimizes the risk of scarring.
