The Pilgrams were a noble Austrian family who were closely related to the Bavarian Pilgrams.

history

The progenitor of these two families was Michael Pilgram (* around 1652, † July 6, 1730) from Feldkirchen in Carinthia . His eldest son (Johann) Jakob (* 1689) went to Munich and was successful as a trader. The fourth son of Michael was Franz Anton Pilgram (1699–1761), architect and landscape architect from Lower Austria. His eldest son was the astronomer and Jesuit Anton Pilgram (1730–1793). The tenth child was Johann Josef Ignaz Jakob (1745–1804), Dr. the right and government council and received on December 15, 1787 the bestowal of the nobility with Edler von Pilgram. His son Johann Baptist (1780–1861), entered civil service in 1803 after completing his studies, became State Councilor in 1834 and was Vice Mayor of Vienna. Johann was Chancellor of the Order of the Golden Fleece and was promoted to baron status on September 3, 1840. With his son Theodor Friedrich Leopold (1825–1905) this male family died out.

Shield divided by a golden crossbar, above in red a growing, forward-looking, black-clad pilgrim with a white pilgrim cloak and white belt, in his right hand a breviary and in the left he holds a pilgrim's staff upright; below in black a golden, ascending, curved tip, covered with a silver shell, the black adjacent places also each have a shell. An open crowned helmet with a closed black flight with a golden sloping beam on it three shells.

Tribe coat of arms, on it a baron crown with three helmets, on the right a closed black flight with a golden sloping bar with three shells, in the middle the pilgrim as in the coat of arms, on the left three ostrich feathers. Motto: " Do what is right and do not be afraid of anyone ". Shield holders are two standing dogs with a collar.
