Pilotwings is a video game series from Nintendo in which the games Pilotwings for SNES , Pilotwings 64 for Nintendo 64 and Pilotwings Resort for Nintendo 3DS have so far been released. In addition, the SNES version for the virtual console of the Wii was published.

Gameplay

The player must complete a series of missions while sitting in various flying vehicles. For example, targets on the ground must be destroyed within a time limit, or the player is required to fly through a certain number of rings. After each mission, the player is rated using criteria such as time, damage, fuel consumption or landing ability.

Pilot wings

Pilotwings is known for using Mode 7 technology, which uses various effects to make the environment appear three-dimensional. Since the game does not make use of real 3D technology, all of the buildings and trees are "painted" flat on the ground and appear to stand out when the player is far enough in the sky.

Landing on moving platforms is rewarded with bonus missions. Here, for example, a penguin has to be maneuvered into a pool of water, or the player has to move a winged man over several trampolines.

Pilot wings 64

Pilotwings 64 attaches great importance to research. There are many small details in the landscape, for example the Loch Ness monster or Mount Rushmore , in which Super Mario was immortalized. The game consists of 4 islands. An island is a miniature version of the 48 mainland states of the United States .
