Pinduoduo (Chinese: 拼 多多) is an e-commerce platform that allows users to participate in group purchases. It was founded in September 2015 by Colin Huang under the name Shanghai Dream Information Technology.

history

The company was founded in September 2015. In July 2016 invested Tencent , Gaochun and Xintianyu more than 110 million US dollars in the company. By 2018, the number of users had exceeded 200 million, the volume of deals made through the platform had exceeded 100 billion renminbi , and the daily backlog was second only to Taobao in mainland China .

On July 26, 2018, the company was listed on the NASDAQ technology exchange in the USA under the symbol PDD . The starting price per share was $ 19. The IPO raised $ 1.6 billion, making it one of the largest IPOs in 2018. In February 2019, the company announced the sale of more than $ 1 billion in additional shares. The sale includes both existing shares and new shares that have been sold by the company to raise funds for continuing operations and new investments.
