Pinolillo or Pinol is a traditional drink made from cornmeal and cocoa in Nicaragua .

The necessary powder is made from roasted corn and a little cocoa. It is mixed with water or milk and drunk sweetened or unsweetened. The drink has a rough, grainy note. In Nicaragua, the base powder is also used for dishes such as garrobo con pinol . Traditionally, the drink is served in a calabash made from the peel of the Jicaro fruit. The consumption of pinolillo is so widespread that Nicaraguans call themselves pinoleros .
