history

Engineer Training Battalion

First, the Pioneer Training Battalion (PiLehrBtl) was set up in the spring of 1956 . Initially it consisted of three makeshift companies , which were restructured into nine companies in July 1956. The staff platoon administered the battalion. In the following months more companies were set up, so that at the end of 1958 the battalion was finally subordinate to 14 companies. In detail these were:

Pioneer Training Regiment

In March and April 1959 the battalion was restructured into the Pioneer Training Regiment (PiLehrRgt). The 6th company of the battalion was disbanded, the others subordinated to the regiment. Five companies and the previous staff platoon of the battalion as well as part of the 7th Company were combined to form the Heavy Pioneer Training Battalion 210 (sPiLehrBtl 210), which was expanded to a total of nine companies in 1964. The remaining companies of the former PiLehrBtl became independent and were directly subordinate to the regiment. LLPiKp 9 was spun off in June 1959, renamed Parachute Pioneer Company 250 (FschPiKp 250) and relocated to Kempten . In 1959, a railway pioneer teaching and experimental company (EbPiLVsuKp), which was also directly subordinate to the regiment, as well as engineer battalion 4, which moved to Bogen in the course of the following year and was finally spun off from the regiment in April 1960 , was reorganized . The swimming bridge company 202 was initially subordinate to this PiBtl 4, but did not move to Bogen and was again directly subordinate to the PiLehrRgt from January 1960.

In October 1961 the regiment was restructured. The previously independent technical companies were combined to form the Spezialpionierlehr- und Experimental Battalion (SpezPiLVsuBtl), which in October 1971 still received the number 870 (SpezPiLVsuBtl 870). Parts of the regiment, namely the railway pioneers and the pipeline pioneers, moved to Krailling in 1963 . In 1973 the SpezPiLVsuBtl 870 received an additional training company.

Pioneer Training and Experimental Regiment 87

In April 1974 the regiment was finally renamed the Pioneer Training and Experimental Regiment 87 . At the same time the SpezPiLVsuBtl 870 was dissolved and its sub-units were directly subordinated to the regiment. In addition to the existing Heavy Pioneer Training Battalion 210, these were the regiment's headquarters company, the Pipeline Pioneer Company 871, the Pioneer Training Companies (PiAusbKp) 872, 873 and 874 as well as the PiAusbKp 875, which was newly established in 1974.

In October 1979 the PiAusbKp 872 and 875 were merged to form the Pioneer Training Center 851. From January 1981 this was directly subordinate to the pioneer school and was detached from the regiment. The regiment itself was disbanded in April 1981 and converted into the 210th Engineer Battalion. The Heavy Pioneer Training Battalion 210 was transferred at the same time to the Pioneer Training Battalion 220 and reported directly to the Pioneer School.
