Slouching

In East Westphalia, the term bragging refers to an amalgamation of several “plows” (farms) to form one place.

This name can be traced back to the 16th century. In the area of today's Herford district, in the Valdorf district of the city of Vlotho , the word "Plögerei" appears for the first time as a merger of several farms into one place. Previously loose, not connected farms, whose previous location was primarily based on family names and directions, were organizationally combined and a village was named and justified.

The term "Plögerei" can grammatically, according to Wilmanns, Grammar II § 287, be traced back to the following nouns agentis on -aere, which corresponds to the northern German job title, verbally "plöger" or "plüger", high German "Pflüger". North German "Plög" corresponds to the High German term plow .
