Hankofen is a district of the Leiblfing community in the Straubing-Bogen district in Lower Bavaria . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Hankofen is located on the Reißinger Bach about five kilometers southeast of Leiblfing in the Danube-Isar hill country .

history

Hanichova is mentioned in a document as early as 883/887 on the occasion of an exchange of goods. At that time the monastery of St. Emmeram was wealthy in the area.

The clerical Hofmark Hankofen later belonged to the Cistercian monastery Seligenthal in Landshut and after the secularization in Bavaria fell to the University of Landshut in 1803 with other monastery property . The district court of Leonsberg , which was subordinate to the Hofmark, was also dissolved in 1803, and Hankofen was now subordinate to the district court of Straubing, which in 1808 also took over the lower court rule over Hankofen. In the same year 1808 the tax district Hankofen was formed, from which the municipality Hankofen emerged in 1818.

On June 6, 1858, a fire destroyed seven properties in Hankofen, including one small child. In 1952 the community included the districts of Hankofen, Frauenholz, Grünberg, Holzmauer, Mundlfing, Rauher, Reithof, Roßhart, Schwineck, Sondergai and Affa. By decree of the state government, the municipality of Hankofen was assigned to the unified municipality of Leiblfing in 1978. The last mayor was Xaver Landstorfer.
