Grance Senesi

The name Grance Senesi DOC refers to Italian red and white wines from Luni (a district of Ortonovo ) in the province of Siena , Tuscany . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ) since 2000 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

Cultivation and vinification of these wines are only permitted in the municipalities of Rapolano Terme , Murlo , Asciano and Monteroni d'Arbia in the province of Siena in the Tuscany region.

The denomination prescribes the following grape varieties for the various types of wine :

  • Grance Senesi Rosso , Grance Senesi Rosso “Riserva” : At least 60% Sangiovese. A maximum of 40% other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added.
  • Grance Senesi Bianco : At least 60% Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca Lunga - individually or together. A maximum of 40% other white grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added.
  • Grance Senesi Passito , Grance Senesi Vendemmia tardiva (Eng. "Late harvest"): At least 60% Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca Lunga - individually or together. A maximum of 40% other white grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added.
  • The grape variety mentioned must contain at least 85% of the following wines. A maximum of 15% other analogue grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added:

Grance Senesi Rosso vendemmia tardiva (Eng. "Late harvest")

The Grance Senesi Rosso can carry the predicate "Riserva" if it has matured for at least three years, of which at least 12 months in oak barrels.
