Bolgheri (wine)
The name Bolgheri DOC refers to Italian red , rosé and white wines from the Bolgheri district of the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno , Tuscany . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1983 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

The denomination prescribes the following grape varieties for the most important types :
- Bolgheri Bianco : Must contain 0–70% Vermentino, 0–40% Sauvignon and 0–40% Trebbiano Toscano . A maximum of 30% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added - individually or together.
- Bolgheri Rosso and Bolgheri Rosato : 0–100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 0–100% Merlot, 0–100% Cabernet Franc, 0–50% Syrah, 0–50% Sangiovese may be included. A maximum of 30% other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added - individually or together.
- The following wines must contain at least 85% of the grape variety mentioned. A maximum of 15% other analogue grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added.

- Bolgheri Sauvignon
Cultivation
Cultivation and vinification of these wines are only permitted in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno .
In 2016, 57,978 hectoliters of DOC wine were produced from 999 hectares of vineyards - including Sassicaia.
