Colli dell'Etruria Centrale

The name Colli dell'Etruria Centrale refers to Italian red , white and rosé wines as well as a young wine and Vin Santo in Tuscany . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1991 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

Cultivation and vinification of these wines are only permitted in the provinces of Arezzo , Florence , Pisa , Pistoia , Prato and Siena in the Tuscany region.

The denomination prescribes the following grape varieties for the different types:

  • Colli dell'Etruria Centrale Rosso and Colli dell'Etruria Centrale Rosato : at least 50% Sangiovese must be included. A maximum of 50% of other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added. A maximum of 25% white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be included in the mixture.
  • Colli dell'Etruria Centrale Bianco : At least 50% Trebbiano Toscano must be included. A maximum of 50% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added - individually or together. A maximum of 15% red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be included in the mixture.
  • Colli dell'Etruria Centrale Novello : at least 50% Sangiovese must be included. A maximum of 50% of other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added. A maximum of 15% white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be included in the mixture.
  • Colli dell'Etruria Centrale Vin Santo (also called "Riserva"): At least 70% Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia Bianca Lunga must be contained - individually or together. A maximum of 30% other grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added - individually or together.
  • Colli dell'Etruria Centrale Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice (Eng. "Eye of the guinea fowl"), also called "Riserva": it must contain at least 50% Sangiovese . A maximum of 50% other grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Tuscany region may be added - individually or together.
