The Plac Po Farze is a place in the historic city of Lublin in Poland . The church of St. Michael , built in the 15th century, was formerly located on the square, but was completely demolished by 1857 due to its poor condition.

history

After the church was demolished, the vacated area was designed as a town square and was fenced in and overgrown with grass in 1899. In the middle of the square was a cross on a stone plinth, reminiscent of the former church of St. Michael. In the years between the two world wars, the square was changed several times. Plants reproduced the alleged floor plan of the church. It was not until JE Dutkiewicz that the foundations of the church were excavated from 1937 to 1938. In the time after the Second World War , for the 10th anniversary of the People's Republic of Poland, the square was redesigned again, including a fountain and several trees were planted.

The current condition of the square goes back to restoration work at the beginning of the 21st century. After the archaeological excavations were completed, the foundations were secured and the square was completed with a bronze model of the Church of St. Michael. This is located near the rectory and the epitaph above the grave in which the remains of the townspeople who were found during the excavations are buried.
