history

From 1855 astronomical and meteorological investigations took place in Penza; At that time, the physics and mathematics teacher Ilya Ulyanov , the father of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin , began systematic observations of the earth's atmosphere on behalf of Nikolai Lobachevsky from the University of Kazan.

In 1928, in the city park of Penza, at the end of Mira Street, a wooden public observatory was set up in memory of Ilya Ulyanov , which was later expanded to become the current planetarium. In front of the planetarium a statue of Lenin and Stalin was erected at times, later only a Lenin statue. There is currently no statue in front of the building.
