The Plataforma Oceánica de Canarias (PLOCAN) is a consortium in Gran Canaria for scientific research in the marine and marine sector . Their task is the profitable combination of services such as observatories, test benches, support for underwater vehicles, education and a center for innovation.

Wind turbine

In 2018 a floating wind turbine named Elican was installed. The system from the manufacturer Siemens Gamesa has an output of 5 MW and a rotor diameter of 132 meters. The operators of the plant are Esteyco and PLOCAN.
