PlayOnLinux (abbreviation POL ) is a graphical user interface for the Windows-compatible runtime environment Wine on Linux systems, PlayOnMac is the same on macOS . It facilitates the installation, configuration as well as the uninstallation of programs that are used via Wine.

Another advantage is that it can be determined which software should be used with which Wine version. This makes it possible to use software that requires older versions of Wine.

PlayOnLinux also makes it possible to create your own scripts, ranging from simple menu windows to changes to the Wine installation or entries in the Windows registry . An introduction to PlayOnLinux's Bash- like scripting language as well as a list of the possible functions can be found on the manufacturer's website.
