The Playa Montelimar is a beach on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua in the department of Managua . Montelimar consists of 3 km of white sand beach.

The Barcelo Hotel is located on the beach . The current location of the hotel and resort is the old Somoza Estate , the actual house has been converted into a casino with a view of the Pacific Ocean. The land originally belonged to German immigrants and was confiscated by the Somoza dynasty after they declared war on Germany during World War II, although there was no fighting between the two countries.
