Plunderer - Die Sternenjäger ( Japanese プ ラ ン ダ ラ Purandara ) is a manga by Sū Minazuki that has been published since 2014.

In February 2018 it was announced that the work would be adapted as an anime television series.

action

The action takes place in a medieval world in which numbers rule the life of everyone. Each person has a counter visible on the body, which shows the social rank and forces one not to be able to defy instructions from others with a higher counter. The counter increases depending on certain actions that are individual for each person, but it can also decrease. However, if it falls to zero in the process, phantom hands that come out of the ground will drag you into the abyss.

The protagonist is the naive Hina ( 陽 菜 ), whose mother was torn into the abyss and, shortly before her death, instructed her to find the legendary Red Baron ( 撃 墜 王Gekitsuiō , German ' flying ace ' ) - the hero of the " War of Abolition" ( 廃 棄戦 争haiki sensō ), at the end of which the kingdom was founded 305 years ago. After five years and more than 40,000 kilometers of hiking - her counter increases for every 100 km she has run - she arrives in a city where he is supposed to be. Here she makes the acquaintance of a strange, masked man named Licht Bach ( リ ヒ ト ー = バ ッ ハ Rihitō Bahha ) who begs her for food and has a negative counter, as well as the shopkeeper Nana ( ナ ナ ).

Shortly afterwards she meets a soldier who introduces himself as the Red Baron and to whom she shows her mother's heirloom, a black counter ( バ ロ ッ ト barotto , English ballot ), which would give the wearer an additional 10,000 points during his mission and therefore give him the most others and its possession is therefore illegal. The soldier forces Hina to give it to her and since his counter is lower, he persuades her to take part in a “star competition” in which you use your points and the winner then loots the loser's points. After Hina loses, she is saved by Licht, who turns out to be the real Red Baron.

Since his identity is now open, light flees and ends up in a remote coastal town, which is under the protection of Sergeant-Major Lynn Mei ( リ ィ ン = メ イ Riin Mei ), who falls in love with light after a misunderstanding. First Lieutenant Jail Murdock ( ジ ェ イ ル = マ ー ド ッ ク Jeiru Mādokku ), who has the ability to manipulate iron in any form, is entrusted with the capture of light .

But also a mysterious special unit of the army under the command of Major Schumermann ( シ ュ メ ル マ ン Shumeruman ), which, oddly enough, uses modern technology that doesn't fit into the medieval world, is after Light, with Hina, Lynn and Jail being drawn in.

publication

The work drawn by Sū Minazuki has been published in Kadokawa Shoten's magazine Shōnen Ace since December 26, 2014 (issue 2/2015) , where it replaced Minazuki's earlier work Angeloid ( Sora no Otoshimono ). So far (as of February 2018) the chapters have been summarized in nine anthologies ( Tankōbon ).

Panini Comics has published the work since February 28, 2017 under the title Plunderer - Die Sternenjäger in ten volumes so far in German.
