history

In 2000, the three dental depots Deuker & Neubauer (founded 1963 with headquarters in Kassel ), Emil Huber (founded 1915 with headquarters in Karlsruhe) and Neubauer Dental (founded 1936 with headquarters in Offenbach) merged and founded Pluradent. In the years that followed, five other Pluradent AG & Co KG companies joined with Dental Depot Carl Huxhol, Dental Depot Peter Klein, Dental Depot Otto Schumann, Dental Depot Wegesend and Dental Depot Wilke.

With the establishment of Pluradent Austria GmbH, which took place through the majority stake in Erich Nagele GmbH and the integration of Handelsgesellschaft Karl Schaffer Zahnwaren-Großhandlung KG and Austrodent Handelsgesellschaft mbH, the foundation stone was laid for the care of dental practices and dental laboratories in Austria.

Since 2016 the Pluradent Group has held a majority stake in the Polish dental specialist Meditrans. It is one of the leading dental retail companies in Poland and has been selling dental consumables and equipment since 1991. The customer base includes dental practices, dental laboratories and trade organizations. The company employs around 90 people and offers a range of more than 30,000 products.

On February 25, 2020, Pluradent AG & Co. KG applied for bankruptcy in self-administration at the Offenbach District Court in order to avert impending insolvency.

Corporate structure

The Pluradent Group is made up of various companies. As the parent company, Pluradent AG & Co KG takes on the role of traditional specialist retailer and offers products and various services for dentists and dental technicians. The daughters complete the offer. The subsidiary GLS GmbH & Co KG , based in Kassel, is responsible for material logistics. The subsidiary Prodent Consult GmbH offers extensive consulting services for dental practices. The Pluradent AG is privately held. The company shares are held by the owner families of the merged founding companies and are not publicly traded.

Prodent Consult GmbH was founded in 2008 as a 100% subsidiary of Pluradent, with the aim of offering Pluradent customers not only product services but also consulting services. The consulting company recorded a turnover of 580,000 euros in 2016 (2015) and employs 12 people. Prodent Consult is a classic consulting company with a focus on the dental market and thus primarily advises companies in the dental industry, especially dental practices and clinics. The logistics company GLS Logistik GmbH & Co.Dental Handel KG supports dealers and dental specialist companies in supplying their customers. These include, above all, dentists, dental laboratories and clinics. The range includes more than 130,000 items, almost 50,000 are available in the central warehouse. The company also handles jobs, taking care of shipping and transport organization, created accompanying documents and provides after-sales service . GLS supplies customers all over Europe and processes around 500,000 orders a year.
