Pocketmaker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The bumblebee ( Bombus pascuorum ) is counted among the pocket makers.

As Pocket Maker ( "bag manufacturer") are those bumblebee species referred to for the storage of pollen create specially around several brood cells bags. This means that the brood can be cared for more easily and quickly. This form of pollen storage is practiced in particular with long-nosed bumblebee species such as the field bumblebee ( Bombus pascuorum ) or the garden bumblebee ( Bombus hortorum ). Short-nosed species, such as the great bumblebee ( Bombus magnus ), use spent brood cells to store pollen as well as nectar, which is why these species are also known as pollen storer (" pollen store ").
