Robert Popov ( Macedonian Роберт Попов ; born April 16, 1982 in Strumica ) is a former Macedonian football player .

Popov started his career at FK Belasica from his hometown Strumica . Until 2000 he played there for its youth teams and from 2000 for the professional team. For the 2003/2004 season he moved to the Bulgarian club Litex Lovetsch , with whom he won the 2004 cup. In the 2007/2008 season he succeeded with Litex Lovetsch qualifying for the first round of the UEFA Cup, where they were eliminated against Hamburger SV . Popov scored the consolation goal to make it 3-1 in the second leg . From the second half of the 2007/2008 season, Popov played for AJ Auxerre. After he came to a few missions in the first six months, he did not play a game in the 2008/2009 season, among other things because of a torn cruciate ligament . After a season without a club, he joined the second division club SC Kriens in Switzerland in 2011/12 . From 2012 he played for the lower-class clubs FC Wettswil-Bonstetten and FC Birmensdorf . There he ended his active career in 2016.

Popov was part of the squad of the Macedonian national football team . He made his debut on July 24, 2001 against the Qatari national soccer team and until his last appearance in 2009 he had played a total of 17 international matches.
