Podesta (island)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Podesta is a phantom island first mentioned in 1879 by the Italian captain Pinocchio (ship Barone Podesta ); he describes the island as follows: one kilometer in circumference, about 1390 kilometers west of Valparaíso , Chile in the Pacific . Other information locates the island 900 miles west of the Chilean coast.

The island was included in the nautical charts until 1935 . Since it could never be found again, it has since been deleted from the maps.

On Google Earth , the island is located at 32 ° 18 ′  S , 89 ° 8 ′  W , possibly a hoax entry.
