Poe no Ichizoku

Poe no Ichizoku ( Japaneseポ ー の 一族, eng. "The Poe Family" ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Moto Hagio . It can be assigned to the Shōjo genre and tells of the two main characters Edgar and Allan in separate chapters.

Since the mid-18th century, the Poe family, a vampire clan, have been moving from place to place in Europe to hide their identities from mortals. Edgar and Marybell are part of the Poe family, but became vampires at the age of thirteen and have not aged since. At the end of the 19th century it came to light in a city that the Poes were vampires; Marybell is killed. Edgar escapes and meets a vampire of the same age, Allan. The two of them are still on the road in Europe unchanged in 1970 and meet descendants of the Poe family in London.

Publications

Poe no Ichizoku appeared in Japan from March 1972 to June 1976 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Bessatsu Shōjo Comic . These individual chapters have also been summarized in five anthologies by the Shogakukan publishing house. The manga was later reprinted several times, including a three-volume edition in 1988. A new edition from 1998 also includes three volumes.

Poe no Ichizoku has not yet been released in Europe .

Awards

Moto Hagio received the 21st Shogakukan Manga Prize for Poe no Ichizoku in 1976 .
